  1. I am sorry to say that we have had such a lousy spring that no real garden rewards have appeared! I have planted tomatoes but don't hold out much hope for them, as it is so late and still quite cool at night.
    Maybe next year!
I am home from my little weekend trip and gearing up as we speak to leave tomorrow for Orofino.....yeeee haw!!

  2. I planted garlic (from MaryJane's) last fall and that's growing incredibly huge! I've also got chard, kale, and basil. I have a very small garden space that I have to entirely enclose with fencing and netting to keep the deer and the rabbits out. On my deck I have two tomato plants grown in pots. I'm hoping to get to eat some of those tomatoes this year. Last year I had a huge crop of tomatoes on the vine and one morning when I got up the deer had eaten them all including most of the plants. This year I tucked them up closer to the house and am hoping the deer don't see them.

And I'd LOVE to have one of those hats. I saw CJ's and Robin's and loved them!

  3. We just picked about 18 cups of wild growing black raspberries - canned 7 pints of jam already and baking 2 pies today. Picked 2 green peppers, a handful of strawberries, and cut some lemon balm to dry for tea. Onions are almost ready to harvest too. We have also been harvesting lots of lettuce, some swiss chard, and lots of cuttings from the herb garden. Oh....we also picked a bowl of peas yesterday.

  4. We also have had a cold, wet growing season here in nothern Illinois, so nothing yet. But I do see a little tomato and pepper trying really hard to grow. Come on babies!

  5. I have a small garden, just a beginner. I have tomatoes-cherokee purple and a chocolate cherry, cucumbers, cabbage, lettuce, sweet potatoes, and a bell pepper. I also have herbs... a couple different kinds of basil, thyme, oregano, spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint, cilantro, chives, and catnip.
Been using the herbs for a while, gotten a few cucumbers, cabbage are almost ready and have lots of tomatoes on the vines, should have some in a few days.
Love the pics, thanks for sharing the trip with us.

  6. My garden has been coming on slowly.... this spring weather has been wild to say the least here in South Central Wa. SO this year I have stayed simple... tomatoes are always a must... lettuce, herbs, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cucumbers, squash,.... thankfully, the heat has come and the plants are doing so much better....

  7. The only thing I am trying this year is some herbs---Basil,Oregano,and Chives so far. Too much shade in our backyard for growing vegetables.
