LIW-Road Trip, Burr Oak, IA / Decorah, IA , June12, 13 & 14

North East Iowa holds this tiny treasure as one of her secrets.
In the small town of Burr Oak you will find the unpublished story of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Her only childhood home still on its origianl site and the birthplace of sister Grace.

Tour admission rates: adults - $7, children/youth - $5 , family admission-$25
Guided tours. On Sunday noon to 4 pm.

Arrive from Pepin, WI set up camp.

A tour of the Dairy Center will be scheduled for the next afternoon for a milking demonstration and a self-guided or guided group tour of the facility. It will include the feed bins, freestyle dairy barn and the calf barn. www.iowadairycenter.com, located in Calmar, IA.

No reservations.. plenty of space. Seven miles from Burr Oak. Electric $18, w/o and tent camping $12. Showers, dump station, shelter house for meet and greet.

An early morning start, after we drop off donation in Decorah, to Kansas City follows a great time in Burr Oak/ Decorah area.
