This road trip will not only be fun, but educational. In a sense this is the perfect time to start earning badges for beginners and push along those who need intermediate and expert levels.
For beginners these badges should be ideal to earn on the road trip. Read over the description of each badge and calculate what is needed to complete each badge.If you would like to TEACH a badge to beginners please feel free to step in with guidance.
Each Other - #9 Farmgirl Gratitude. Beg. Keep a farmgirl journal for a month. Don't repeat. #1 Community Service. Start a community service journal. Volunteer 10 hours. Write a synopsis of each and write how many hours/minutes you spent volunteering. " Project Giving" on the road trip.
Stitching & Crafting - #4 Crotchet. Beg. Learn how to crotchet. Make a simple porject. Three hour minimum. Teach someone else to crotchet.
Garden Gate - #5 Heirlooms Forever. Beg. Plan a garden and look over heirloom varieties of seeds. Read "Gardening with Heirloom Seeds" By Lynn Coulter.
Replace 5% of your plantings with heirloom varieties. Seed Savers in Decorah, IA and Baker Creek Seed Company in Mansfield, MO.
Outpost - #2 Outstepping. Beg. Hike, visit 3 places. Learn and locate wildflowers, state birds, take photos. Learn to build campfire. A lot of camping on this trip.
#3 Disconnect to Reconnect. Beg. Unplug for the weekend. No electronics.
Intermediate. Head for the hills with farmgirls.
#1 "Out There" Women. Beg. Make a survival pack. Identify 10 native plants & properties as food, medicine or poison. Intermediate. Make own trail mix from MJF "Ideabook". Cook full meal over campfire. Appetizer, main course and dessert.
Survival pack list is on forum. Each state will be different. Someone with guidance from each state can volunteer to educate farmgirls on native plants, state birds, and wild flowers. Great photo of the survival pack in badges earned forum entry.
